Out in the Studio

In 2008 I connected the oldest and newest artist live/work buildings located at opposite ends of Fort Point, a Boston neighborhood, by painting a mile-long line of chalk between the two of them. I left roughly 150 gaps in the line and over the course of a weekend I wheeled 300 pounds of clay across the line, engaging with over 70 participants who helped to fill these gaps with raw terracotta forms reminiscent of the area’s demolished smoke stacks.
